Observations

• Globally, the third wave seems to be growing linearly instead of tapering like it started to in November.
  It’s worth noting that in each wave, the lowest point has still been higher than the previous wave’s record. This means we have never observed lifetime-relative improvement at the global scale. (smarter people probably know a better way to say that)
• One third of all US cases occurred over the last 30 days.
• Oregon’s case rate is slowing over the past week, but the death rate has climbed dramatically.
• On 12/16, COVID-19 claimed over 3,600 lives in the US, and over 13,500 worldwide.
  For reference, the global daily death toll from car accidents is estimated between 3,200 and 3,700.
